Discover the secrets and wonders of the Cathedral and the Giralda on an unforgettable tour

The Cathedral of Seville, one of the largest religious buildings in the world, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987 and recognised as a Site of Outstanding Universal Value in 2010.

This imposing monument was built after the demolition of the old Aljama Mosque in Seville. The minaret, now known as the Giralda, and the Patio de los Naranjos (Courtyard of the Orange Trees) remain from the original construction. The cathedral is located next to the Archivo de Indias (Archive of the Indies), the Reales Alcázares (Royal Alcazars) and the picturesque Barrio de Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz Quarter).

For more than 150 years, the Muslim temple served as a Christian place of worship until 1401, when it was decided to build a new cathedral. The work continued until 1506, and according to tradition, the canons wanted to build a church so enormous ‘that those who saw it finished would think us mad’.

During the Renaissance period, additional rooms were added, such as the Main Sacristy, the Chapter House and the Royal Chapel. The Giralda was also completed under the direction of Hernán Ruíz, reaching a height of 104 metres and becoming Seville’s most emblematic monument.

During the guided tour of the Cathedral of Seville, you will discover its secrets and the history of this impressive architectural complex. Among other treasures, you will see the remains of Christopher Columbus and admire the largest altarpiece in the Christian world.

At the end of the tour, you will have the opportunity to stroll through the Patio de los Naranjos and, if you wish, climb to the top of the Giralda to enjoy unique panoramic views of Seville and take unforgettable photographs of the city.
